DataChambers Offers Internet Imaging Service Bureau Solution
March 14, 2005
DataChambers Records Management, a locally-owned and operated Independent Commercial Records Center (ICRC), today unveiled a new service called iChamber that will enable midsize-to-large companies and other ICRCs to purchase a document scanning "service bureau." iChamber is a production environment solution that offers image transfer and retrieval via secured, password-protected connectivity that is fully HIPAA compliant and easy to use.
"We purchased, and are positioned to re-sell, this technology to ICRCs like ourselves, as well as to midsize-to-large companies with major, ongoing scanning needs," said Chief Operations Officer Chris Kelley. "The fact that the Triad region has an ICRC with this capability shows that our region is becoming more and more tech-savvy." In fact, only a small percentage of ICRCs in the nation boast this technology.
The package, made possible by reseller agreements with major hardware and software companies, includes: scanners, workstations, software, training, technical support, and image storage via iChamber. "Each scanned item is stored in a secure storage area network (SAN) located at DataChambers, and made available immediately for authorized customer access. They only pay for the space they are utilizing, and we are responsible for system maintenance, support and any upgrades," said Kelley.
Through iChamber, customers can retrieve e-mails, faxes or print jobs. They can add notes, track and report on any stored image or group of stored images, all from the convenience of their desktops. "No more lost time tracking down documents or sifting through unorganized items," said Kelley.
"We decided that it was not a matter of if our client base was going to demand document imaging, but rather a question of when," he added. "We decided iChamber was a necessary investment and incorporated it into our other information management services which include tape vaulting and hard copy paper storage."
DataChambers has already successfully installed numerous iChamber systems around the country for ICRC operations.
"Our customers realize that a partnership with DataChambers is the most cost-effective method of entering the Internet imaging service bureau market," said Kelley. "The hardware, software, production staff, facilities and security protocols require a significant capital investment if done on your own. Our model not only affords our partners access to our six-plus years of experience in the service bureau environment, it allows them to take advantage of our reseller agreements, which, in turn, saves money."
